Dr. Nordgren is a board-certified, fellowship trained vitreoretinal surgeon who specializes in the treatment of age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachments, eye trauma, and other surgical diseases of the retina and vitreous. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah and grew up in Wilsonville, Oregon. He received his bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University in Provo where he graduated Cum Laude. He then obtained his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin where he was involved in multiple ophthalmologic research projects and publications. Next, he completed an internship at Saint Joseph Hospital in Milwaukee followed by his ophthalmology training at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. As a graduating senior resident he was presented with multiple awards including the Silver Scalpel award for surgical excellence. Dr. Nordgren then completed his training with a 2-year vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at the Retina Institute of Indiana. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retina Specialists. He places an emphasis on excellent communication with his patients and their families. He is also fluent in Spanish.
Dr. Nordgren is married with 2 children. He enjoys spending time with his family, outdoor activities, concerts, sporting events, and playing the guitar.
